Dry Bones Remembered

March 26, 2020

A reflection on Ezekiel 37:1-14

The world as we know it is dying.
The dust of fear threatens to choke us.

We feel exiled as we self-isolate in our homes.
We feel dis-membered
from family, friends, and community.

But even as we walk through a valley
that is filled with the bones
of a former way of life,

God, you are still with us
steadily filling us with holy breath.

We hear the distant rattle of the bones of your creation.
They are coming together in new ways.

Your breath moves through us,
keeping us from choking.

The multitude of your people will rise again
filled with the breathe of your promise:
Knit together
“Re-membered.”
