A 100 Word Easter Sermon

The women prepare to put love into action
Gathered in community to anoint with spices.
Grief turns to surprise and then joy,
Reminded in the angels’ message
What Jesus had told them.
“On the third day, he will rise again.”

Prepared for one experience
But open to a Resurrection Pivot
They leave the spices behind
and share the good news.

“Idle tales,” the disciples respond.
Stuck in mourning.
Closed to the experience of God’s expansive love.

Except for curious Peter, no longer in denial
Who pivots to the tomb and is amazed!

“Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
